School Grad Fun

On Sat, 20th Nov, I had the great opportunity to take photo’s of the Every Nation School of Campus Ministry’s Graduation.  In between all the formalities, I at least had the chance to play a little too :)

Gotta love Depth of Field!

I love how it accentuates different
parts of the subject…

On this one, I liked the colours, but wanted the flower to stand out – love it!

Buuuut, if you’re not quite happy, thank goodness for Paint.net!
Blur it some more, add some more contrast & voila!

Dogs on beach

Ah, dogs on the beach, what fun!  These guys were actually ruining my shot of the pathway, but when I saw how peppy they looked to be in it, I couldn’t resist!
Miemie n Daleen

The lace on Daleen’s dress just caught my eye, with Miemie’s beautiful smile in the background, it made the perfect ‘days gone by’ kinda shot!
De Wet to class filter

The first time I tried playing with filters when editing…  I liked how this one gave a bit of an olden day feel, especially with what De Wet was wearing – thanks for the wardrobe Buddy!
Deb O

I loved Deb’s expression on this one, very pensive & after adding some b&w & adjusting the levels slightly, her eyes just became so clear – like you could see right into her thoughts…

Congrats to all the graduates – trust that you’ve been well equipped to take the campus by storm!

Thanks for the opportunity guys, I had fun!

Our Winters Beach Day

I love just going to the beach & sitting there, listening to the waves, breathing in the ocean breeze.  But in Cape Town, winter is sometimes of the least enjoyable times on  the beach, but we decided to go anyway – & play with the camera!

I saw that my little Panasonic DMC-TZ1 can do things I always wanted to, but never got it right to do, thanks to my Fiance, I now know how :) – as if it was rocket science!  But it shows you what you can miss out on if you don’t at least try!

Just look at this depth of field!  The bakkie’s we caught on the way home…

The weather proved to be just right for pics. Although it was cloudy, the lighting was exactly right for some action shots!

Devoutrageous 2010

1500 students from across the country got together over the ‘Womens Day’ weekend, but this was to enjoy God & celebrate our outrageous devotion to God!

Collage 1

God did such a defining work in these young hearts, they’ve come back with a fire to see their campus taken for the Kingdom!

The Praise & Worship was awesome!  The guys were hungry after God, crying out for their generation!

Of course, what would it be if we didn’t have some talent shown off – what a day of entertainment!

Collage 3

Yes, my Fiancee cought a sneeky shot of me too :)

Collage 2

Not to forget the awesome ZOOM juice – breakfast, lunch & dinner!

But hearing from leaders such as Rice Broocks, Gordon Dalby, & many others, was what we brought home.  What encouragement!

‘What will this generation leave as a legacy?!’

Interesting where you go when you plan a wedding

It’s so interesting, planning wedding n all n all n all – I’ve found myself going into little shops I’d never really gone into. You know these little gift shops with all pretty dainty handmade accessories, glitzy things that sparkle & you only buy cos you’re either a fan or it’s a gift or you want to spoil yourself, or the home? (Okay, some of us do so sparingly, but...) Yeah, I’ve been in a few of those, just for fun, looking for accessories, hair clips, etc.

It’s been fun though. I’ve always avoided them cos they just look like they’re going to cost you money, you don’t dare walk in there without money cos you will find something that you like!  But I also know that it's the only place I'll find something pretty enough for my special day :)

So, let the hunting continue!  Sparkle, sparkle!

Magalies, here we come!

[Campus harvest[8].png]

Time has flown!  I can barely believe the time is here & we're in the final preparation for take off!  With already more students that we'd hoped for & more registering by the day, we're getting more & more excited about what God has in store.

These guys & girls aren't about to miss out on the fun, they're dragging their friends & fellow students, urging them to be there!  They have such a sense of how this will impact not only their lives, but their campus, they want as many hearts there as possible & they're stepping out in faith for it too!  They've been raising part of the R 60 000 we're trusting God for the transport, it's going slow, but getting there & they're not done yet!

I'm looking forward to them meeting students from across the country with the same heart & the same passion for the nations.  2 000 other students, 400 of them from the Western Cape on a 20 hour bus drive - it's going to be fun!

Watch this space for updates!

A Journey of Faith

God often takes us from a place of slavery in Egypt, to the freedom & abundance of Canaan – but it happens only by faith that we’re able to enter in to what God has for us.

Journeys are often thwart with danger, pressures & darkness, but what I’ve learnt, the hard way, is to trust God.  Not just trust IN Him, but to trust Him. He is Faithful, He is Good, He is.  He knows what lays ahead for us, He knows how to overcome the seemingly insurmountable.

Valleys & mountain tops, each bring their own battles, victories.  I love what Coach Boone says about a football field, in ‘Remember the Titans’ (one of my all time favourite movies) - ‘this is my sanctuary, right here… this is always right, struggle, survival, victory & defeat’

Perhaps, we should look at the challenges life brings as such – always right – in the wisdom of God, always choosing our character above our comfort. The struggles of circumstances, fighting our hearts out to survive cos we trust in an all powerful God, victory over bondage & sin, defeating the enemy & prospering through faith in the purposes of God – all to His glory.

Spar Ladies 10km Race

The Most Beautiful Race

Along with about 10 000+ other ladies, Carmi & I set out to conquer the 10km's before us.
A sea of pink!

Yes, some of those 'ladies' were slightly suspect

Thanks Carmi! That was fun! We might’ve walked a few km’s, but we did it!
As ill prepared as we were, it’s a good start up for next year’s Two Oceans!

Growing Closer & Deeper

Cell groups on campus are growing. The girls are eagerly getting more and more involved in each others lives, building their relationships with each other as they go deeper in Christ.

There’s a sense of family developing, an understanding of more than just Wed evening 18:00—doing life together. I’m excited to see these relationships bloom

Hopefully that doesn’t actually mean anything in Chinese!

Campus Harvest 2

Campus Harvest 2010 - Devoutrageous!

Outrageously Devoted to God

Planning & prep is going well. The sign up for Campus Harvest is looking good, it seems like we’ll overshoot our faith goal for delegates attending. We are currently raising funds for transport to get over 400 students from the Western Cape to Magaliesburg in August – even the students have stepped up to the plate to raise the registration fee, not only for themselves, but for friends who aren’t in the position to pay for themselves. They’re engaging their faith with God even before attending, pray with me that God will meet them in a powerful way!

Weddings - Georg & Kirty

Georg & Kirst, we had such a blast driving Nixie up for you & then spending the weekend on your parents farm was phenomenal! Your wedding was beautiful & such a blessing—I had such a sense of God in the worship & of course, the song you wrote for your G—who can top that?!

But wow, what a family, from both sides, just chipped in & got it done!

Beautiful! Thanks for having us share in your day!

Weddings - Ntsane & Abongile

Abo, Ntsane, it was amazing to be there with you! I’ve never seen so many phones around a bride & groom! :)

Probably the longest ceremony I had ever been to, but I haven’t seen a couple so content & just lavishing in the day, in a long time! It was inspiring! Such a faith journey & God was just showing off—what an encouragement!

Ntsane, so proud of you bro! Abo—good luck! :)
